Remember When… Singers would grace the stage one after another and could really sing. I mean really sing where you felt every word. Well,Thursday night, I had the pleasure of attending one of the best live concerts sponsored by EOS(evolution of smooth) with ROCNATION Presents Melanie Fiona, featuring Bridget Kelly and Elijah Blake at Tongue and Groove here in Atlanta.
The talent in the building gave me goose bumps. REAL Music, REAL R&B, REAL Singers. Everyone around me felt it.
For the past several years, I have asked the question, where is R&B? Will the real singers please stand up, show up and show out. Well last night the universe delivered and in a big way.
First up was rising R&B singer/songwriter Elijah Blake and he rocked the mic! Smooth sounds serenade the audience. His vocals were on point. The musicians were on point. I must say that X.O.X is pretty dope. Elijah is no stranger. He is the Grammy Award winning song writer that helped us fall back in love with Usher via Climax. Need I say more. He will soon take the world by storm. I can’t wait.
Bridget Kelly, my NYC sister, grammy award winning artist/songwriter blessed the mic next and oh my gosh from the moment she hit the stage and started off with Empire State of Mind I was captivated. I mentioned to a friend of mine I was going to the concert and was strongly advised Bridget is a true artist in every sense of the word. Once you see her you will surely be a fan. True Story!
Amazing talent: Her energy, her engagement with the audience she had the crowd going. Street Dreamin has an old school feel with some dope new school vocals. I danced, bobbed my head and got my two step on to just about every song. I will tell you of all the her song my favorite, Special Delivery-Bridget Kelly, has been on repeat since leaving the concert. Bridget Kelly’s Album Something Different is due out very soon.
And last but certainly not least was Melanie Fiona. Im just going to say real talent was in the building. Oh my gosh, Melanie Fiona sang her face off. She took us on a journey of Love: The Highs, The Lows, The Ups and The downs of love and I enjoyed every minute of it performing hits like Fool for you, 4am, Give it to me right, It Kills me just to name a few. One of my personal favorites, Somebody come get me/Ay yo. I had to fan myself from dancing so much.
This was an amazing opportunity and I look forward to hearing new music from them. If given the opportunity to see Elijah, Bridget or Melanie perform make sure you check them out. You will not be disappointed.
